March To August:
March to August (M2A) is the Ozark Mountains-based Americana duo of Derrick and Jodi Mears. Blending Americana, alt-country, bluegrass, and folk traditions, the pair has built a reputation for vivid storytelling, thoughtful songwriting, and a remarkably full sound created by just two musicians.
Derrick's rich vocals are accompanied by banjo, guitar, and harmonica, while Jodi anchors the music with bass, stomp box percussion, and lap steel, creating dynamic arrangements that are both intimate and expansive.
On stage, March to August draws audiences in with compelling stories, quick-witted banter, and the occasional delightfully random fact or piece of trivia unearthed during one of their many late-night research rabbit holes. Their performances feel as much like conversations as concerts, leaving listeners entertained long after the final song.
The duo is known for crafting concept albums that weave individual songs into larger narratives. Their 2024 release, Songs Inspired by Witness, earned critical praise and debuted in the top 50 of the Alternative Country and Folk charts.
Their fourth studio album, Highway 75, released in May 2026, is an immersive blend of prose and song that follows a long-haul truck driver searching for redemption along the interstate stretching from South Florida to the Canadian border.
The album debuted as one of the top 25 Folk albums, one of the top 50 Alternative Country albums and was also considered an “Album To Watch” by the Euro Americana Charts, further establishing the duo's reputation for ambitious, narrative-driven songwriting. Jeff Burger from Blogcritics.org described the album as…
“Likely to be remembered as one of the best Folk/Americana releases of 2026”
Whether performing in intimate listening rooms, historic theaters, or festival stages, March to August connects with audiences through honest songs, memorable stories, and music that lingers long after the last note.
